Three separate findings
AuthorityCheck reports citation confirmation, proposition support, and model agreement separately. It never treats model consensus alone as verification.
Source-first review
Citations are normalized and matched against the versioned Objection Authority Index. The most relevant stored passages are selected before any model receives the question.
Blind independent reviewers
OpenAI and Anthropic reviewers receive the same source passages but never see each other’s answer. Every decisive review must return an exact quote found in a retrieved passage. Missing providers, incomplete passages, unverifiable quotes, or disagreement produce “Needs human review.” A third model cannot outvote uncertainty.
Privacy and retention
The v1 checker accepts text only and prohibits confidential information. Raw input is deleted within 24 hours. Private results expire after seven days. Public sharing requires an explicit opt-in.
What it does not do
AuthorityCheck is not legal advice, comprehensive legal research, or a complete citator. It does not promise that an authority remains good law, and an authority not found in the covered corpus is reported only as “not confirmed.”
